Peter Yu and Diversity

Updated: Apr 9

The United States of America is the most diverse population in the world.

As a society, we need to continue to embrace our country's desire to provide equal opportunity to all people regardless of their race, color, gender, and religion. The United States welcomes all individuals who pursue through legal means the American dream. In addition, we need to make sure that we don't over correct our desire to help any particular individual so that each person in this great nation has the exact same rights to pursue a better life.

As we continue to be a more diverse population, we need to make sure the proper tools are in place for all people to be able to stand on their own two feet. It is important that we continue education and skills training so that all citizens of this great nation have the best chance to succeed in America! Studies show that individuals with a minimum of a high school degree can increase their chance of escaping poverty.

“The opportunities are available. We just have to make sure that we provide the tools necessary to succeed.”

STOP RACIAL HATE AND DIVISION

In our effort to bring more awareness and equality to our society, our country is being torn apart from narratives that do not reflect our great nation. The use of racism in every scenario today is doing the exact opposite of bringing us together and eliminating hate. The more we separate and identify individuals by their color, gender, or race, the more we drive a racial stake between us and our neighbors. Let's remember, in the United States of America, we are a family of immigrants. As the great Morgan Freeman said, "If you want to get rid of racism, stop talking about it." Let's stop identifying people as Black American, White American, Asian American, Hispanic American, or Native American. We are all Americans, and it is time we all identify that we are one and the same.
